A dog owner's guide to The Keg Stand

Quick version: yes, you can bring your dog.

We say "dog-friendly" right on the front page for a reason — a good portion of our regulars walk in with a leash in one hand. If you're driving in from somewhere and just want to know whether the trip is worth it for both of you, this is for you.

The basics

  • The brewery is dog-friendly. Leashed dogs are welcome.
  • There's water.
  • We're at 1016 Railroad Ave in Novato — easy to find, easy to park, easy to walk in.
  • You don't need to call ahead. Just come.

When to visit with a dog

Honestly, anytime we're open works — but a few patterns to know:

  • The quiet hours are early-afternoon. Sunday after 1pm, weekdays from 3 to about 5. Fewer people, more room for your dog to sprawl out, more time for you to actually catch a pint without the rush.
  • Friday evenings get busy. Taquizas Los Cuñados is out front, sometimes there's live music, and the room fills up. Dogs are still welcome — just plan for a fuller room. Saturday evenings can pick up too, but it varies.
  • Food truck days are the bonus round. Tuesdays (Sabor a Rancho) and Fridays (Taquizas Los Cuñados) are the standing weekly trucks, and other days can have one too — but not always. The front is set up for eating outside on truck days, which makes it the easiest spot to settle in with a dog. Check the events page or our Instagram before you head over.

What to expect when you walk in

  • Hard floors, plenty of space. Easy on paws, easy to shake off a wet coat in the winter.
  • No barking pressure. Most of our regular dogs are pretty chill — yours will fit in.
  • No counter food we serve directly. Food comes from whichever truck is out front, so you're not navigating a server with hot plates around your dog.

A few things to know

  • It's a working brewery. The fermenters in the back can be loud-ish if you happen to walk in during a transfer. Most dogs don't care. Some do.
  • Other dogs will be there. If yours doesn't love other dogs, the off-peak hours above are your friend.
  • We card you, not the dog. You still need to be 21+ to drink. The dog can come whatever age.

A small ask

If your dog is having a hard day, give them a different day. We love dogs and so do most of our customers — but the room stays good for everyone when nobody's anxious. There's always tomorrow.

That's the gist. If you've got a specific question — service dog questions, large groups with multiple dogs, anything else — give us a call or just walk in. We'll figure it out.

See you soon. Pet them for us.
